Salt Creek - North Swells - Dec. 2020

Second north swell of the season at Salt Creek. Peaked on 12/9/20 with 4 to 6 foot sets inside and 8 to 10 foot outside sets on occasion. First intense session of the winter season. Great conditions in the morning, became a bit ruffled late morning with slight onshore. Both the Point and Middles were working.

Pipeline was 15 to 20 feet on Wednesday (12/3/20). The same Gulf of Alaska swell hit Southern California on Friday and Saturday (12/4 and 12/5/20) and represented the first real north swell of the winter. Salt Creek picked up some long walled, but inconsistent swell in the 15 to 16 second period range. Size varied from 4 to 6 feet, maybe 8 feet on the largest sets. The crew was out in force on the "Point". However, it was challenging to maintain position. The north swells filled the northern portion of the bay and funneled out to sea at the Point, so you needed to keep paddling towards the beach just to stay in the lineup. Later in the day, Middles started working with some decent shoulders that were picked up by the bodyboard squad.
